Lands & Resources Department
The mandate of the Department of Lands and Resources is to conserve and protect the lands and resources of Teslin Tlingit Council for the benefit of present and future generations.
Lands and Resources staff administers legislation, educates and advises Citizens, and promotes the sustainable development and use of lands and renewable resources in our Traditional Territory. Many types of projects occur within our Traditional Territory. With our field staff, GIS capabilities and knowledge of the land, we are able to maintain an overview of activities and ensure no serious impacts to our land, renewable resources, culture or heritage occur.
Sustainability and self-reliance in the Teslin Tlingit Traditional Territory
- To implement, monitor and update land and resource management plans to ensure natural resources serve Citizens’ cultural and self-reliance needs today and into the future.
- To review and update the acts, regulations, policies and other legal documents which govern land and resource use and management.
- To promote, participate, respond and represent TTC to external agencies and other interests on land and resource issues.
